When I was a teenager in the late 1970's we thought we'd never make it past 1980. The ever present threat of nuclear annihilation during that time (see the movie The Day After) led to a "No Future" state of mind for many of us. But we stayed the course and here we are over 40 years later. We made it. Only to have it come up on the horizon now. And slingshot us back to the fear, uncertainty, anxiety and pain we thought was behind us. I'm not a young man anymore, I have maybe 20 years left if I'm lucky. As the threat of chaos, violence and death grows ever more likely I'll grieve. For my loved ones, my family and friends. For myself. However my life ends on this Earth, may God or the Universe bring enlightenment and knowledge to the men and women who desperately want to save us from ourselves. So be it.
